The First of Many Projects

I'm starting from the bottom up, organizing the basement.  First, I had to move the boxes that were covering up this space so I could put them on this makeshift storage system.  Chuck and I wanted the boxes off the floor just in case the basement ever flooded.  It was cheap, only twenty-two dollars for five cinderblocks and four pieces of lumber!  The sixth cinderblock came from our garage.  Hopefully, this is enough to stack all of the boxes.  I hope Chuck doesn't want the furniture off the floor.  I wasn't planning on hoisting them off the floor as well.  I don't even think our furniture is worth saving!
Being ever so meticulous, I even swept the space up!  I should've taken before pictures because this area was a chaotic mess.  Clothes and books on the floor, boxes half open.

Here are the boxes eagerly awaiting their placement on the "shelves".  Hopefully they are strong enough to hold all of the boxes.  I'm imagining boxes stacked all the way up to the ceiling.  There's probably thirty or so boxes!

Preparing for the Big Move

I'm a born procrastinator.  So it doesn't surprise me that March is quickly approaching and I haven't yet prepared myself for this life-altering move to Italy.  I have less than a month to finish the kitchen remodel, paint the bedroom, organize the basement, sell my car, pack my belongings (some in boxes to Italy, the majority in boxes to the basement), and clean the house to rent; all the while working full-time.  It'll be stressful and exhausting until I leave for Italy, but I'm anxiously awaiting my reunion with Chuck.
